Bereavement Support Resources: Lewiston/Auburn area


Support GroupsGuidance through Grief Series
A 6-week structured education & support group designed for grieving adults jointly offered by Central Maine Medical Center & Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.  Held 3 times/year at either CMMC or AHCH.  Contact Jim Douglas, 777-7740.

Compassionate Friends Support Group

For parents & grandparents who have lost a child of any age. D’Youville Administrative Conference Room, 2nd Wednesday/month, 6:00-7:30 p.m.  Contact Belinda Kleeberger, facilitator, 336-2781 or email: bink@megalink.net. 

Grief, Loss, & Healing Support Group
An open support group for grieving adults sponsored by the Fortin Funeral Group.  Meets in Conference Room D at CMMC the first Wednesday/month, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Contact Fortin Funeral Home: 783-8545 or facilitator Theresa Beaudette (W): 777-7740.

Open Support Group
For anyone who has lost a loved one. St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Club 50 Room (Campus Cuisine), 2nd & 4th Wed/month, 6:00-7:30 p.m (EXCEPT Dec-held on the Wednesday before the holiday).  Contact SMRMC Chaplain’s office, 777-8520.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group

CMMC: 2nd Tuesday every other month, Conf Room C, 7:00-8:30 p.m.; St. Mary’s: 3rd Tues/month, 7:00-8:30 p.m.  Facilitators for both are Tammy Brule and Leanne Langlois, Certified Perinatal Grief Support Specialist, 777-4300. 

Program for Grieving Children & Teens
St. Philip’s Church, Auburn, 10-week support group offered 3 times/year.  Contact Jake Lariviere at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, 777-7740.

Survivors of Suicide
8-week support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, offered by Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.  Contact Jim Douglas, 777-7740.  Also, ongoing Survivors of Suicide Support Group meets at Maine Medical Center in the Dana Center, the 2nd and 4th Monday/month, 7:00 p.m.  Contact Connie Korda, 871-0111.

“Bridges”
A peer grief support program for those who have lost a loved one to a brain tumor.  Contact the American Brain Tumor Association: www.abta.org or 1-800-886-2282.
