Kids Comfort Packs
The mission of The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is to provide the highest quality of education, support and wellness services to enhance the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities touched by cancer. Within the greater field of oncology, a very important but often-overlooked population is children who are affected by cancer.
The Dempsey Center Kids Comfort Pack is a free self-care kit for any child with cancer or who has an important person in their lives who has a cancer diagnosis. Each pack is tailored to the age and gender of the child and consists of 6-8 items that focus on independent play and activity, primary prevention (e.g. sun protection), interaction and communication with adults, family time activity and assisting the child with expressing his/her feelings.
Each cinch backpack contains a workbook designed to help children understand and express their feelings about cancer; Mad Gab’s SPF -15 lip balm & face block sticks, an age-appropriate book from our Light One Little Candle collection, a gift certificate for a free children’s meal and ice cream sundae from Friendly’s, plus a choice of two of the following:
- Journal
- iTunes gift card
- Stuffed Animal
- Hackey sack
- Kite
- Beach Ball
- Gel Pen Pack
