The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free workshop titled “Supporting Children When a Loved One Has Cancer.”
The workshop will take place Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. at 12 High Street, on the CMMC campus, in conference room H. Caroline “Tookie” Bright, a University of New England student pursuing a Masters in Social Work, will lead the presentation and discuss methods to support a child affected by cancer. Topics include: Working with parents, how to talk about cancer, warning signs, feelings and behaviors. Teachers, day-care providers, nurses, and other professionals who work with children are encouraged to attend. The course is free and dinner will be provided.
