SUMMARY:Family Night: Torn Paper Abstract [Rock Row]
DESCRIPTION:Create your own torn tissue paper abstract during Family Night at the Dempsey Center. We will be tearing and layering different colors of tissue paper to create art that speaks to you. This practice will foster mindfulness and being in the present moment\, letting go of expectations\, and helping reduce stress—all of which are useful coping skills when dealing with a cancer impact\, uncertainty\, and other challenging situations.\nFamily Night at the Dempsey Center offers clients an opportunity to connect with other families impacted by cancer. Here\, you can be surrounded by those who just “get it” while bonding with your family. Pizza will be provided. \nOpen to Dempsey Center clients ages 5-12 and their families. If not participating in class a parent/guardian must remain in the building.\nOnline sign up is not available for this workshop. SUMMARY:Dempsey Doga for Youth + Families [Rock Row]
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this kids’ yoga class featuring our Dempsey Dogs! Youth ages 5-12 are invited to join our Dempsey Dogs for a fun\, active yoga experience – ’Doga’! Meet other youth impacted by cancer and learn fun dog-inspired yoga movements through beginner yoga practice while bonding with our therapy dogs. All materials are provided\, and all youth participants will leave with a set of their very own Dempsey Doga cards.\n\nDempsey Dogs are trained and registered by Pet Partners. Therapy dogs can help to provide emotional support and alleviate stress\, improve moods\, and help kids to gain the strength and confidence to overcome challenges they might face.
