My awakening to the realities of cancer began in 1997 when my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She was successfully treated, but the disease returned twice.
She underwent treatment a second and third time, and I’m very happy to report that today she is enjoying a very active, healthy life.
I learned a lot during my mother’s illness. I found out how important it is to have access to good, reliable resources to help the patient, family members and caretakers. After this experience, I knew that I wanted to make a difference, to give back to the community that helped my mom through her cancer journey.
With the help of Central Maine Medical Center, we’ve created The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing.
Our program is dedicated to providing high quality education, support and wellness services. I urge you to explore this website and discover what resources are available should you or a loved one confront a cancer diagnosis.
