Swag Assistant (Non-Client Facing Position)

POSITION: Swag Assistant 
DEPARTMENT: Advancement
REPORTS TO: Events Manager + Marketing and Communications Director 
LOCATION: Dempsey Center, Lewiston, ME

Schedule and Hours: Flexible, as needed. 

Position Summary : The Swag Assistant volunteer helps with functions of the Advancement Team and fundraising events. The volunteer in this role helps with getting the appropriate swag to those putting on fundraisers for the Dempsey Center.  

 Key aspects of the role include: 

  • Communicating with those who are organizing fundraisers for the Dempsey Center about swag options and deciding what swag and other resources they will need 
  • Pulling and packing swag from inventory 
  • Coordinating pick-up of swag for events 
  • Keeping all swag organized 
  • Coordinating the swag needs for the South Portland Center and ensuring swag is there when needed 
  • Communicating stock issues with your staff supervisors 

Qualifications:  

  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills  
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Detail oriented 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel  
  • Reliable attendance 
  • Demonstrates professionalism with all Dempsey Center visitors and staff having warm and friendly disposition when managing calls 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality related to the Organization, our clients, and our Founder 

 Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for the duration of shift (up to 4 hours) 
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, reaching motions 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 

General Requirements:  

  • Must attend Dempsey Experience Training. 
  • Maintains professional behavior, dress and appearance at all times while volunteering. 
  • Must use discretion and protect the confidentiality of all Dempsey Center clients.; HIPAA-specific training will be provided. 
  •  Ability to effectively communicate with employees, Board members, donors, prospects, volunteers, consultants, advisors, and members of the community.  

 Required for all Volunteers:  

  • Background check  
  • Annual flu immunization or declination notice
