Community Needs Assessment Focus Group Participant ICA

Purpose of the Project

You are invited to participate in a focus group as part of the Dempsey Center’s Community Needs Assessment. The purpose of this project is to better understand the needs, perspectives, and priorities of key stakeholders—including clients (current, former, and potential), medical providers, and employers. The findings will help identify gaps in services, barriers to access, and opportunities for growth, guiding program development, fundraising strategies, and strategic planning efforts.

What Participation Involves
  • You will be asked to take part in a focus group discussion lasting approximately 60 minutes.
  • The discussion will include questions about your experiences, perspectives, and ideas related to supportive oncology services and community needs.
  • Focus groups will be held via Zoom. Participants must have their camera on and be in a private space to participate.
  • All sessions will be transcribed to ensure accuracy in analysis.

Voluntary Participation
  • Your participation is completely voluntary. You may choose not to answer any question and may withdraw from the discussion at any time without penalty.

Risks and Benefits
  • Risks: The risks of participation are minimal. Some participants may feel uncomfortable discussing personal experiences related to cancer or healthcare. You may skip any question you prefer not to answer.
  • Benefits: While there may be no direct personal benefit, your input will help shape future programs and services, ensuring they better meet the needs of the community.

Confidentiality
  • All information shared will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by law.
  • Transcripts will be stored securely and accessed only by the research team.
  • Your name and identifying details will not appear in any reports, presentations, or publications.

Incentive

As a thank-you for your time, you will receive a $50 Hannaford gift card, which will be mailed to you after completion of the focus group session.
