Space 2 Breathe 2024

An adventure-based therapeutic camp for teens ages 12-17 impacted by a parent or sibling’s cancer.

A 4-Day, 3-Night Camp for Teens Impacted by Cancer.

Space to Breathe is an adventure-based overnight program for teens ages 12-17 (entering 6th grade-12th grade) impacted by a parent, caregiver, or sibling’s cancer. The program gives teens a chance to challenge themselves and build resiliency while forging strong bonds with other teens who “get it” due to their shared experiences with cancer. It is facilitated by clinical counselors, Dempsey Center staff, trained volunteers, and professional wilderness guides and offered at no cost.

Registration for Space to Breathe is open and you can get started by completing this Camper Information Form.

After completing this form, you will be contacted by a member of our team for next steps.

Your teen and one parent/guardian must be a registered Dempsey Center client or become one by completing a parent/guardian orientation followed by the teen completing a youth and family services introduction appointment. All paperwork including Dempsey Center registration paperwork and the Space to Breathe Camper Information form must be completed and returned before an individual’s spot is reserved.

If you are interested in registering your teen(s), please call 1-877-336-7287 to learn more.

From Previous Space2Breathe Families…

  • Grief is a hard thing to live through. Knowing H had a few days of fun with wonderful people is a blessing. I get tears in my eyes knowing she had happiness for a few days through the clouds and rain for so long. I also know my Mom would be grinning from ear to ear, knowing how much H needed this.
