POSITION: Volunteer Client Services Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Front Desk Support
SUPERVISOR: Volunteer Manager
Lewiston or South Portland

Purpose of Position: The Volunteer assigned to Client Services Assistant provides services to enhance the client experience. This is accomplished by taking responsibility for completing administrative tasks in a timely and organized manner.

Commitment: Standard 3-4 hours weekly shifts

  • Morning shift: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • Afternoon shift: 12:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Dempsey Culture and position specific training

Regular Duties Include: 

  • Register clients for programs either in person or by phone
  • Greet and welcome clients; directing inquiries to designated department
  • Sign-in clients for appointments and programs (involves online software)
  • Answer client questions as they arise, referring people to resources at the Center
  • Answer the phone and direct calls to staff as needed
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks such as mailings or other projects that may arise
  • Maintain general appearance of the spaces within the Center (library, coffee and side tables, periodicals, pamphlets)
  • Will assist with room set-up as required for programs, functions, or events
